At Das Pretzel Haus, our roots run deep — all the way back to Stuttgart, Germany. Our founder, Harald (Hank), grew up surrounded by great cooks and skilled bakers. After being adopted by a U.S. Army soldier, he moved to the United States in the mid-1970s. Years later, following a 25-year career in the U.S. Army, Hank returned to his first love: baking.

With professional training from expert commercial bakers both in the U.S. and in Berlin, Hank mastered the art of crafting artisan pretzels and specialty breads. He worked alongside experienced bakers on the East Coast and in Maryland, where his passion turned into purpose. That journey eventually led to the founding of Das Pretzel Haus — a brand built on tradition, integrity, and a love for handcrafted baked goods..
